MEET THE GERIATRICIAN DREAM TEAM
We are pleased to share that Wyvern’s geriatric perioperative unit is now fully operational and already making a meaningful difference to patient care across our hospital.
This highly skilled team, Dr Ming Loh, Dr Albert Kwok and Dr Marion Matheson have worked together for almost five years at Northern Beaches, forming a cohesive, experienced unit that understands our community deeply. Their work across Delmar, Manly Waters and Sydney Adventist Hospital reflects that same strong connection to the people they care for.
The team provides daily coverage, including weekends, ensuring that older patients and their families feel supported throughout the entire surgical journey.
They stay closely connected with surgeons, GPs, allied health, discharge planners, rehabilitation teams and pain services, creating a genuinely seamless pathway from pre operative planning through to recovery and return to community care.
One of their greatest strengths is continuity of care.
The same physician can be involved before surgery, during the inpatient stay, in ICU if needed, and through rehabilitation and handover back to the GP.For complex patients, that consistency gives surgeons confidence and provides families with reassurance.
For GPs and patients, the value is simple but powerful: a holistic, end to end approach supported by clinicians who know the local area, the local services and the needs of older patients on the Beaches.
This unit brings wisdom, steadiness and integration to the way we care for older people at Wyvern.
It strengthens our surgical pathways, supports our clinicians, and most importantly ensures that our patients experience safe, coordinated and compassionate care every step of the way.
If you would like to connect with the team or discuss how they can support your patients, please reach out at any time.
