Dr Tony Kuo is an experienced ENT and Head & Neck Surgeon with expertise in both adult and paediatric care. He graduated from the University of Otago, School of Medicine, Dunedin, New Zealand in 1999 and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery in 2009.
Following his specialist training, Dr Kuo was accepted by the world-renowned Professor Fu-Chan Wei at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital Head and Neck Centre in Taiwan where he advanced his expertise in managing complex head and neck cancers and pioneered microsurgical reconstruction techniques. His training included reconstruction of extensive defects of the face, jaw, tongue, throat and neck following cancer surgery or trauma.
On the Central Coast, Dr Kuo was the first surgeon to successfully perform microvascular free tissue transfer to reconstruct facial defects after cancer excision. His clinical interests span the full breadth of ENT, including ear infections, hearing loss, sinus disease, snoring, breathing difficulties, voice disorders and swallowing problems.
Dr Kuo is a senior consultant Otolaryngologist at Macquarie University Hospital, Gosford Private and Public Hospitals, Sydney Adventist Hospital and Chatswood Private Hospital. He currently consults at Erina ENT Clinic and Macquarie University Clinic.
Beyond clinical work, Dr Kuo has a strong academic interest. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, co-authored a Head and Neck Surgery textbook, and serves as a Conjoint Lecturer with Macquarie University and Newcastle University Medical School. He has also been actively involved in registrar training and medical education for over a decade.
