Dr Heath French is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and a specialist neurosurgeon with advanced training in spine surgery and spinal trauma. He currently operates at Royal North Shore Hospital and Wyvern Private Hospital, providing comprehensive neurosurgical care across both public and private sectors.
Dr French completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at Griffith University, followed by a Master of Surgery in Neurosurgery at the University of Sydney. His clinical training included intern and residency positions in Queensland and Western Australia, before entering the rigorous neurosurgical training program through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He progressed through senior neurosurgical registrar roles at leading teaching hospitals, including Royal North Shore, John Hunter, Westmead, Liverpool, and Canberra Hospitals. Dr French completed advanced spine surgery fellowships at John Hunter Hospital and Royal North Shore Hospital, gaining extensive experience in complex spinal pathology and trauma.
Dr French has a strong interest in clinical education, regularly contributing to resident and registrar teaching programs. He has presented at national and international conferences and is a published author in multiple peer-reviewed journals, with contributions on topics including spinal vascular malformations, tumefactive demyelinating disease, and arachnoid cysts. He has also served as an examiner for medical programs and is committed to ongoing research, education, and delivering evidence-based, patient-focused care.
Dr French is particularly focused on the management of degenerative spinal conditions, spinal trauma, and minimally invasive surgical techniques. He is known for his collaborative approach, working closely with patients and multidisciplinary teams to deliver optimal outcomes.
